I ate lamb!!!!!!!

For those of you that know me, you'll know that this is a major feat for me and testament to Mr Wright's cooking that I ate so much of it. It was tasty, even if I wouldn't be in a rush to order it again. Thank you Bill for breaking down one of my culinary barriers.

Miss McGarry's 31st birthday party

Hooray for Clarabelle! She turned 31 at approximately half four on Tuesday afternoon and we all went round for dinner and drinks that night. It was a lovely evening, the weather stayed dry if very balmy and a thunderstorm felt likely. We would have stayed outside longer were it not for the flying biters. The midgets were out in force; check this...
Not freckles, no no, but BITES. They're gone this morning though.

Sleepy kitten

I just love the way that Scooby needs to sleep at a moment's notice. Instantly. Zzzzzz.

Scooby doobie do!!!!

He arrived last night and is allowed in the living room, hall and bedroom. If we let him into the kitchen, bathroom and studio, he'll get lost in one of the myriad of small places for a kitten to hide!
He's very happy in his new playground. Curious and playful. Here he is toying with one of his new mice. He's currently under the dining table torturing a glittery mouse on a string. He's lovely to have around. A different kettle of fish from Bonnie, Clyde and Danny because he's so little. He can't jump about the way they can and everywhere is like a giant's land to him. The upside of it is that he knows no fear in relation to Jason and me so he's snuggly with us, despite not knowing us well at all. No hiding under the chairs in the studio!
This second video is to show how gigantic everything looks to him. The cushions are like wee hills to him. Awww. There's no punchline or anything to this video; I did have to stop the camera to show him how to get down. I didn't help him down, but I had to show him that he could jump down to the seat and then dreepy down to the ground. It's not that far but he's still learning his limits. Bless.

Hidden Lane Festival

What a day we had today! I'm knackered. We went round to the studio about half ten to get set up and ready for the festival goers to come a-wandering. Jason, the fantastic man that he is, drew up a beautiful Sylvia and Nicola sign to beckon people up to our end of the Hidden Lane. It worked a treat. We had visitors all day! By the end of it, my face was sore from smiling and I had completely ran out of chat. It was such a long day, we opened our doors about twelve and decided to shut up shop about half six.
Jason had made cookies and Sylvia, a cake and they both went down a treat.
Hopefully it will lead to some new business, people certainly seemed excited by what we do and were enthusiastic. We must have went through about 350-400 flyers. Good stuff, eh?
Right, I'm off for a lie down in a dark quiet room...

Hidden Lane Festival - A Festivus for the rest of us

Hey, hey, hey peeps! So, tomorrow is the Hidden Lane Festival http://thehiddenlane.co.uk/node/92 and is part of the West End Festival. It's me and Sylvia's first one and we're going to open the studio doors, let the smell of fresh baked cookies waft out to the street and sew all day. We're treating it like an open day so that people can come in and see how we operate. I'm going to finish the green dress (organising for tomorrow has stopped me fron finishing it until now), do some pattern drafting and cutting and be ready to hand out flyers and cookies!
Come along, do!
Jason did a wonderful job with our sign, I just ell you vee it.
A hint for you if you ever need to get flyers printed up - get them done in black and white and it will cost you £15 instead of £178 for colour versions. Then, when you get home you can colour them in with a felt tip pen. Voila!
See you tomorrow.
With Love
Sylvia and Nicola
