This poor guy broke down on the M8 at the busiest time of rush hour. In the middle lane, westbound. The traffic, as a consequence, was backed up for 5 junctions. It was a pretty major tailback. Being a good citizen, I phoned my local radio station to report this and warn the other drivers. The lovely lady on the phone took my name and thanked me for phoning. I totally thought I would get a menshy on the radio. You know the way that those folk that phone into Terry Wogan's show get mentioned; I've heard that traffic lady thank people like 'Jamie's dad' and 'White van man'.
So I tuned into Clyde 1 and had to sit through whiney Snow Patrol, angry Pink and a dozen adverts before the traffic and travel came on. Woooo, time for my menshy..... Naw, they stole it as their own news. Harumph.
Yes, I know it's not altruism if you want recognition. Don't care, I wanted a menshy.
Also, you're maybe wondering why I recorded him. He was acting a wee bit bizarre, there was more than a small part of me wanted him to be this guy...
Turned out that he was just scared to get out his car. He was fine when the police arrived. When I say he was acting bizarrely it was because he hadn't appeared to have put on his hazards or put out a triangle.
It took over an hour to clear.
