Glasgow city centre on a sunny Saturday afternoon is a pretty weird place. Epecially with a mild hangover. I saw folk giving away Free Hugs, some sort of car-sized motorbike and this Canadian 'entertainer'. He warbled on for four minutes, seriously, and I still don't know if he got the chains off. He annoyed me so much that I left. And although there were kids in the audience, he used really inappropriate language. I am actually not averse to a bit of street theatre; I don't have the hatred or auto-annoyance that some folk have for it. This guy, though, was a challenge. I do not want my street theatre to blackmail me into paying them - it's his decision to stand in the street in a bunch of chains. Why should I feel obliged to pay this guy just because he turned up? His North American tactics may work in North America, but I don't think they would have made any difference in cash-strapped Glasgow, Scotland. Guarantee, 100% guarantee, that not one person gave him the fiver he was looking for.
Something else that was a bit weird was that Boyzone were in Starbucks on Buchanan Street with their families having some lattes and stuff. I didn't know they were Boyzone until I asked this girl who had gotten her picture taken with this guy who was behind me in the queue. She informed me that I was standing in front of Keith from Boyzone. So there you are. He had a famous look about him, if you know what I mean. He looked a bit like George Michael. He seemed a nice guy. While I stood in front of him, he politely posed with two girls no problem. And then I looked over at their table and I saw Ronan Keating and the other one, who Jason tells me is Steven Gateley.
